Use of the Barrister’s Lounge

The Barrister’s Lounge is a shared-use space for the free use of lawyers at the courthouse, managed by the Victoria Bar Association (“VBA”). It is intended to be a place for lawyers to relax during breaks, work quietly, talk to colleagues, and enjoy refreshments. The Barrister’s Lounge is available for such use on a casual, drop-in basis, without the need for booking.
People may also use the Barrister’s Lounge for events or meetings connected to the VBA, the legal profession, or the work of the courthouse, if they book the space through the VBA. Please do so by contacting Jyoti Chaudhary at (250) 382-7222, or by email at jchaudhary@jonesemery.com.
The Barrister’s Lounge is not to be used for client meetings, mediation/arbitration meetings, or phone calls/Zoom meetings that might disrupt other users (unless pre-approved and booked through the VBA.) To access courthouse spaces available for such uses, please contact the Sheriffs on the first floor.
