Professionalism and Legal Ethics for Younger Lawyers

April 22 @ 5:00 pm - 6:45 pm

Back To Events
The Victoria Bar Association (“VBA”) is grateful to Sean Finn, Monique Dull and JA Pankiw-Petty for hosting a dinner series for articled students and junior lawyers with up to five (5) years of practice regarding issues of professionalism and ethics in the practice of law.

These sessions are designed to be “roundtable” discussions with senior lawyers acting as facilitators rather than lecturing on these topics. Articled students and junior counsel gain a forum within which to discuss the challenges that arise in our day-to-day practice as well as hear how others deal with these sometimes difficult and stressful issues.

Members of the bench generously attend to comment and Pinder Cheema, K.C., kindly co-chairs when available.

Before the first session, learners will be provided with a copy of Chief Justice McEachern’s paper (updated by Michael Goldie, K.C., and others), Ethical and Professional Responsibility Issues. Each session focuses on a different portion of this paper.

Dates

We will host three sessions this spring on the following dates from 5:00PM – 6:45PM:

  1. Tuesday, April 22nd, 2025
  2. Monday, May 26th, 2025
  3. Monday, June 9th, 2025

Going forward, this course will be held only in the spring term.
