Join filmmakers Stephen Herman and Evelyn Neaman alongside the Victoria Bar Association for a private screening of the documentary film, Retirement on Trial.
This is a compelling documentary about a senior lawyer who sets out on a quest to navigate the uncharted waters of retirement. With a burning desire to prepare himself and his colleagues for the psychological and emotional shift that awaits, he offers seminars to explore the challenge of this transition. He is met with reluctance from his colleagues, leaving him discouraged. From his frustration, he undertakes a new path, giving birth to this captivating film.
Through intimate reflections from 14 legal professionals from Canada, Guyana, and Israel, a neurosurgeon and social philosopher, the film challenges the often “feared and maligned” transition of retirement and its relationship to the process of aging. The 50-minute film will be followed by a 45-minute panel discussion with the film directors and lawyers from the Victoria Bar. Light snacks and refreshments will be available for purchase.
This event has been approved for 1.75 hours (satisfies the ethics credit requirements) CPD Professional Development Ethics Credits from the Law Society of BC.
